FAKE K98K FLOORPLATE   $
FAKE K98K FLOOR PLATE NUMBERS
On the magazine housing, the faker would have had to file a trough in the metal to remove the old number without disturbing the original eagle/135 inspection mark, so he chose to strike the numbers in very deeply, mostly obliterating the old numbers but giving the new numbers an unusual appearance. On the floor plate, the surface was filed and emery papered to remove the old number, so the new number was not struck so hard---if it had been struck hard, the thin metal would have buckled. Again, note the cold blue and non-parallel file/sanding marks. AVOID COLD BLUED OR REBLUED GUNS!
