There are several people in the US that take mismatch rifles (which may be 100% original and as captured) and renumber them to make money, often doubling or tripling the price of the original piece. This is fraud and also ruins the item as an historic relic. The faker often has to file or grind old markings off to prepare the surface for the new mark and so has to either reblue or cold blue to conceal the alteration. ALWAYS BEWARE OF REBLUED OR COLD BLUED GUNS!
